The CIRCLE OF FRIENDS for Mental Health enriches the lives of the mentally ill by introducing art, drama, music, creative writing and other experiences that bring fulfillment and help them develop more independent lives. It is a non-profit corporation that raises funds through circles (guilds) and uses interns and volunteers in clubhouses and adult living facilities.

Our organization is currently aimed at providing regularly scheduled sessions, currently weekly in 5 centers, teaching these often overlooked community members about expression and opportunity through art. The creative writing classes have provided a voice for many who are not heard. The drama allows interaction with others and an opportunity to share expression and develop social interaction. Expectations are developing to sell art and fund the music artists. The creative writing groups have produced books of their stories and poems.

"When Art enters us, it performs its healing magic...
it's like a massage for the soul."
-Jan Phillips
