Excerpts from Keystone Expressions poetry book:

Haikus:

Being tired
Tiredness seeps to bones
Drowsy flecks of sleepiness
Finds soft afternoons

Mirrors
Friend or foe your twin
What will my eye see this time
Reflection, a noun

Cold Air Snowy Day

Cold air, Snowy day
breath of misty icy air
numb fingers and feet.

Hellish dry, burn sky
sands shift over dune's 'scape
swallow of hot air

Numb hands and feet, stiff
you had said it wasn't far
icy wind blows on

Numb hands and feet, stiff
you had said it wasn't far
icy wind blows on

Summer

Summer in Seattle is my favorite time. The weather is real good and there a lot of things people can do. A lot of beaches and parks and Summer sports like golf, volleyball, and tennis.

There is so much water in Seattle that people can fish or go out in sailboats, waterski, and swim. You can see there are a lot of good activities in Seattle in the summer.

The Old West

Blue birds flying across the sky in the winter of 1910,
along the Columbia River where the wind whips up the water.
Soon darkness appeared
and a small craft swept down the river, full of froth.
Then the birds flew along the plains
and were joined
by ducks that were there.
They nestled in the trees along the riverbank.
So does this poem end of the bird life of the west.

Mentor

A mentor is listening teaching and
correcting
Loving separating depression from one
self
Raising comfort upon children's tears
If you cut down a trunk of a tree
Will the ground be empty with pain?
Mother filled with tears

  Things That Frighten Me

One time when I was asleep, a monster appeared at my bed and woke me up. The light flickered on and off for a minute or so. The temperature dropped to really cold. I was in shock because for as long as I remember, no one was nearby. I checked my watch. There was no minute hand on the watch. I had no idea where I was. The monster looked like a ghost that was gray-white, but had old facial features. Then the lights came on, and I haven't seen the monster again for several years.
